Who we are
Larkspoon is a personal recipe app at larkspoon.com and in the Larkspoon iOS app. It is run by Tyler Simmons. Questions about this policy go to support@larkspoon.com.
What we store
- Your account: your email address and sign-in details. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the account details you let that service share, such as your name.
- Your profile: a display name (your email address until you change it), an optional picture link, and preferences you save for the assistant, such as dietary needs.
- Your recipes and notes: recipes, tags and labels, cooked dates, and notes.
- Photos: recipe photos you upload or generate, and screenshots you attach to feedback.
- Chat history: your conversations with the assistant. A photo you attach in chat is removed from the saved conversation after your next message. When the assistant changes a recipe, a private before-and-after copy is kept for 7 days so you can undo it.
- Sharing: share links you create for recipes, notes, or groups of recipes; your invite link; and who you follow and who follows you.
- Feedback: the message, the page you sent it from, your browser and device description, and any screenshot.
- Connected apps: if you connect Claude from your Profile page, a record that you allowed it.
Where it is stored
Your data is stored by Supabase (database, photo storage, and sign-in) in the United States (AWS us-west-1, Northern California). The app runs on Vercel, in its San Francisco region. Our AI usage logs record which model ran, how long it took, and what it cost, not what you wrote.
On your device, Larkspoon keeps a copy of your recipes and the recipe photos you have viewed so recipes open without a connection, plus display settings such as theme and text size. Signing out deletes the recipe copy and saved photos.
Who else receives your data
We send data to these services only to run the feature you are using:
- AI providers: chat and recipe import use one provider at a time: Anthropic (Claude) by default, or Google (Gemini) or OpenAI (GPT) if we switch. That provider receives your chat messages and attached photos, the recipes and notes the assistant reads, your saved preferences, and the text, photos, and web pages you import. The assistant can search the web through that provider.
- Google Gemini (photos): generating a recipe photo sends the recipe's title, description, cuisine, and main ingredients; improving a photo sends that photo.
- Recipe websites, Jina Reader, and the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine receive the web address of a recipe you import. Instagram and TikTok receive the address of a post you import from them.
- Soniox receives your voice when you use dictation in chat, and turns it into text.
- Google and Apple handle sign-in when you choose them. Supabase sends sign-in emails.
- Slack: feedback you send is posted to our Slack workspace with your email address, the page you sent it from, and a link to any screenshot.
What we do not do
- No ads.
- We do not sell or rent your data.
- No analytics, advertising, or tracking tools, and no tracking you across other companies' apps or websites.
- The only cookies are the ones that keep you signed in. Nothing else is stored in cookies.
What other people can see
Anyone with a share link can view what it shares and save a copy. People who follow you through your invite link see your recipes and display name; your private labels stay hidden. Recipe photos are stored at web addresses that anyone who has the address can open.
Your choices
You can edit or delete any recipe, note, or chat; turn off sharing for a recipe or note; replace your invite link so the old one stops working; and disconnect Claude on your Profile page. To get a copy of your data, email support@larkspoon.com.
Delete your account in Profile → Delete account. This immediately and permanently deletes your account, recipes, notes, photos, chat history, preferences, follows in both directions, share and invite links, and feedback. Copies of your recipes that other people saved to their own collections stay with them. Feedback already posted to Slack stays there; email us to have it removed. Data an AI provider received is kept under that provider's terms.
Children
Larkspoon is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email support@larkspoon.com and we will delete it.
Changes
When this policy changes, we will update it here and change the effective date above.
